DC + M - pt2

Here is my second entry for a wonderful contest being put on by Dear Creatures and Moxsie. One person will get to win a piece from DC's spring collection just by styling it!

This outfit is something I really wish I would have brought along on the last trip the husband and I took up the California coast. Our goal was seeing Yo La Tengo in Big Sur, but we ended up taking some extra days to explore the surrounding cities and hike around the beautiful water falls. I searched high and low for the perfect boater to take along, but never quite found the right one.

Look 2: The Ahoy Blouse

Since I am already in full blown nostalgia mode this seems like an appropriate time to post photos from that trip which was sometime last year.....(I think?)

If ever I were to be stuck in a Groundhog's Dayesque time warp I would hope that a day from this trip is where I would get to spend it

DC + M

Dear Creatures + Moxsie are teaming up and offering one lucky girl her pick of the Dear Creatures items available on Moxsie.com. The next few entries will consist of me styling my favorites to link as my entries. While I originally wanted to go for brownie points by styling them using nothing but DC or Moxsie items, I instead decided to be honest and style them with the pieces I have been coveting all winter long to wear on the perfect spring days that still seem to be eluding us here in So. Cal.

Look 1: The Hampton Coat

Please note that this is quite near my dream everyday sort of outfit and I would wear it absolutely anywhere.

XOXO.

Nadinoo.

I think it is pretty safe to say (with the possible exception of Dear Creatures) Nadinoo is probably my favorite reasonably priced line currently in production, and for much the same reason. Both lines manage to be whimsical and nostalgic without reverting to being cartoonish or becoming caricatures. They both transport you to the past while still maintaining a modern appeal, but where DC has me wanting to cavort around France with Anna Karina by my side, Nadinoo makes me want to skip through meadows and have tea parties with my best friend. Neither of which is a particularly bad scenario.

Nadinoo pieces are usually made to order (although this season will find them shipping ready made goods) and cut from the most amazing liberty prints.

I have found myself scouring thrift store racks for liberty-esque prints and making impulsive floral printed Ebay purchases (with awful results) ever since I first spotted their line last year. This time around I may just have to bite the bullet and have the real thing shipped directly from the UK.

In other news, I am a lazy blogger.

XOXO.

Lover, you should have come over.

Oh Lover! You know you've got me. Whether it's a well tailored blazer, a rather revealing pair of high-waisted shorts, a dreamy white dress, or a signature bit of asymmetrical lace. Over the past few collections (well since I first came across your line) I have almost always been on board for whatever trip it was you decided to take me on. S/S 11: a Dance For One is definitely no exception. I was already in love when I read it was going to be inspired by ballet, but seeing the look book last month pretty much cemented the deal. Now with the addition of a beautifully edited video staring Australian Ballet Senior Dancer Amber Scott and featuring music by Satie? Well you've pretty much got me for keeps.

Someone asked me if this editorial made me feel connected to my Hispanic roots, to which I justifiably replied "HAHAHAHAHAHA"
